Edward Busk was a scientist and engineer who pioneered early aircraft design at the Royal Aircraft Factory in Farnborough, Hampshire and developed the BE2c, the first inherently stable aeroplane. He was killed on 5th November, 1914 when test flying one of his planes, which burst into flames in mid air before crashing on Laffans Plain, Farnborough.
